Based on the concept of MEDIA SHIP, spaces were created to fully maximize the allure of the architecture and the location. At Omotesando Hills, a cross-category creation team “+NOP(Notion Organize Project)” was established in 2004 to create spaces and environments with the distinctive style of Omotesando Hills. It consists of 4 experts in various fields: Junji Tanigawa, Hiroaki Ide, Yasunori Ito, and Yu Maruno. Cutting-edge sound, lighting, and image technology and Japan’s highest level of engineering was used to fuse together the intangible elements of the atmosphere and the allure of spaces to express unprecedented developmental spatial art that incorporates the flow of time and passing seasons as well as the surrounding natural environment. For example, “+NOP Season Contents,” which change with the seasons, captures images of the zelkova trees along Omotesando Boulevard and generates parameters so that it can be used in the space inside the facility.
Equipment throughout the facility to allow diverse presentation of light, images, and sound include the Bright-Up Wall, a 250m long LED display on the façade of the facility, moving projectors, super-directive speakers, and large displays.
